There is a distinction between Facial Recognition and Facial Surveillance.
Facial Surveillance is conducted without your permission. This is considered passive involvement by the subject. You find this at airports, sporting events, traffic checkpoints, demonstrations, parades, in and around historical places, and basically, in public places.
Ginicoe demands that Meta abandon plans to deploy face surveillance on its Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses, warning that the feature—reportedly known inside the company as “Name Tag”—would hand stalkers, abusers, and federal agents the ability to silently identify strangers in public. Additionally, it opens the door for law enforcement (LE) to monitor peaceful demonstrators, wrongfully identify and arrest P52s, monitor populations, identify protesters, track public movements and associations, track customers across retail eco-systems, harass, expose celebrities publicly seeking privacy – think paparazzi, and gives license to employers to perform employee monitoring. These glasses and facial surveillance set the table for Digital panopticons.
Facial Recognition occurs with your permission. This is considered active involvement by you, the subject. You find this here at Ginicoe, where you voluntarily opt-in (or opt-out anytime) to enroll your facial image to protect all of your financial transactions plus advance social justice. You control your image and your likeness. Ginicoe will never sell your image or personal information. Period!
